Meet The Educational Consultant 

K&P Educational Consulting, LLC is owned by Nykea LaVon Purnell, M.Ed. Nykea’s passion has always been founded in law and advocacy. As a product of public school education in Richmond, Virginia, Nykea recognizes the inequities in public education which can create tremendous barriers for students with special education needs. After receiving a Bachelor’s in Government and International Politics from George Mason University, Nykea served as a substitute teacher in special education programs, which resulted in her decision to obtain a Master’s in Special Education. Presently, Nykea is an Educational Consultant with 15 years of experience in Special Education, a Master’s of Education, and endorsements in Special Education and Educational Leadership and Administration. Most relevant to the evolving social climate, Nykea is certified in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Workplace and is a facilitator through the International Institute of Restorative Practices (IIRP). Within the scope of special education regulation, Nykea has extensive experience reviewing, investigating, and determining best practice standards for the education of students with disabilities. As such, she is prepared to consult with, advocate for, and coach families to protect their student’s rights under state and federal regulations.
